Broken computer
My computer decided to go on holiday as well… a long holiday, have not been able to start it up yet.

My computer decided to go on holiday as well… a long holiday, have not been able to start it up yet.

We are still recovering from our trip to Japan and working our way through the 2500 photos and videos.
So stay tuned for our trip report over the weekend.
I do not know why I went down to check our car just before we went to sleep….. Must be some ‘feeling’.
When I came to the car, I found out the left front got hit by a silver car…
No notice or telephone number on the car or in the mailbox…
Welcome back home……
We’ve got some money from the Leadership Team at the very end of this fiscal year and have to spend it before 9/30. That’s not so difficult, but it is not enough to cover a real “The Bund” dinner + good SPA / Massage which was proposed by our big boss. Hopefully, what I helped to arrange will still be appreciated…
Laws are made to function a seemingly healthy community in a stable and disciplined fashion. However, when some of those laws become increasingly absurd, that you giggle your way through even reading them, one wonders what the law makers were thinking while coming up with such classical dumbness. Here we have gathered for you at least one dumb law from a state each.
Day 2 of our teambuilding was supposed to be the ‘relaxed day’…. Not quite…. We had a long, high climb to go up the “Nan Shan” (南山 / Southern Mountain) to visit the “Zhu Hai” (竹海 / Bamboo Ocean). Through the bamboo forest the hike was surprizingly cool and once we reached the cable car, the climb also became a lot shorter all of a sudden. The view from the top of Nanshan was great. Could see very far! After lunch with the local specialty fish head, we got back in the bus to Shanghai.
We had the 2010 CSSG teambuilding at TianMuHu in JiangSu province. After a 4 hours bus ride from Shanghai, we arrived at WuLingHu Villa where we stayed for some sports activities, a BBQ and our night program. The fun started in the bus already, but pictionary in Chinese with a full bus is pretty difficult!
Almost 2 years old N79 is half dead now. Keypad hangs except Power button.
It seems to be the common issue with N79′s Navi function. Some people advice to remove keypad IC… will try if the newly ordered parts doesn’t work.

Edit by Ronald 2010-09-19:
With a newly ordered keypad, the N79 is up and running again!
Mamma is working very hard on her big project… A big ‘quilted quilt’ for the guest’s room. All hand-made!
Actually Humberside Airfield is a better name
Even a Fokker 70 is a big airplane for this airport. But is it close to Hull and there is a direct flight from Amsterdam, so pretty convenient for my quick supplier visit in the UK. It makes me think again of all the times I flew in and out of Eindhoven Airport. (And especially a specific time in Aug 2005
)

Watched one funny clip about “How to learn Chinese” after dinner. It’s funny, it learns foreigners Chinese tongue twister. Ron gave it a try as well…
Chinese: 妈妈骑马, 马慢, 妈妈骂马
Pinyin: mā ma qí mǎ, mǎ màn, mā ma mà mǎ
Meaning: Mom is riding a horse, the horse is slow, Mom scolds/complains the horse.
All kids were off from school today as typhoon Kompasu was to pass Shanghai. Well it did pass Shanghai, but far enough and late enough at night not to be a danger to schoolgoing kids. But is was making our drive back home from Caohejing a lot more difficult!
We were driving from CaoHeJing in Xuhui back home to LianYang in Pudong, which meant crossing the two areas with most rainfall:
“The most precipitation appeared in downtown Xujiahui area at 144.6 millimeters, followed by the Huamu area of Pudong at 129.3 millimeters. The rain water was measured above 100 millimeters in 18 areas across the city. There was no flooding reported at the Expo site, though precipitation ranged from 69.8 to 114.9 millimeters”
Hard to believe that todays’ total visitor count is so low
, should have gone there today…

Villa posts highest sale price
A LUXURY villa project in Pudong New Area registered the highest sale price in Shanghai last week when one of its villas was sold for an average 138,214 yuan (US$20,385) per square meter.
The 494-square-meter unit, located on Yinliu Road in Zhangjiang, was one of 18 luxury villas launched in mid July. The asking price for the remaining 17 villas – with a gross floor area of between 494 square meters and 669 square meters – is 138,000 yuan, according to www.fangdi.com.cn, the city’s official real estate website.
“Purchasing power among some Chinese people, particularly the luxury and high-end home buyers, still remains high,” said Sky Xue, an analyst with China Real Estate Information Corp (CRIC), a major real estate information, consulting and online services provider. “And we’ve seen increasing pressure for a rebound in the housing market, particularly in housing price.”
Meanwhile, a total of 20 apartments at a high-end residential development in downtown Luwan District were sold for an average 53,277 yuan per square meter last week, and 10 sales contracts were again sealed in Yanlord Town in Lianyang in Pudong during the seven-day period, with an average price of 45,254 yuan per square meter, according to statistics released by CRIC.
With such nice weather, we have to keep a Dutch tradition going: BBQ.
Since we don’t have a garden on 26th floor, our barbeque just has to be on the balcony, but it works just as fine!
Instead of going for dinner at Vien’s mom & dad, we could ask them to come over and eat at ours…
