Happy Street, still standing strong!

About a year ago everyone was in stress to complete “Happy Street” in time. After the UK Pavillion has been demolished and the Swiss Pavillion moved to Hangzhou, there is a clear view on Happy Street!

Quite some Pavillions are still lining the Expo Avenue (世博大道), we still saw the pavillions of Italy, France, Netherlands (behind it Romania & Russia), Spain, Belgium, Nepal, India and Saudi Arabia.

Expo – Puxi

Last chance today to visit the Expo with standard tickets, we’d better go and use the ones we still have to check out the Puxi section. Photos will be added to the Expo album, videos are below.

Expo visit in September

No water, no car, no plan today  :-?   At least get around to sort some photos…

Click below photo to see more…

What happened?

Hard to believe that todays’ total visitor count is so low :-w , should have gone there today… :-D

A sneak peek inside the Expo

We sent our photo camera into the world expo site (cuz we are not allowed to enter yet) and got a sneak preview of what the pavilions look like. You need to think away some of the construction that is still ongoing, but the size of everything is incredible…. Those cars and trucks in the pictures are really normal ones, these buildings are huge!
Keep your mouse on the photos to see what is what.

S-Max: Expo ready

We got our own car ‘Expo approved’ today: We registered at the police station and got big expo sticker. It saves us from additional checking when entering Shanghai, since our IDs and driving licenses have been linked to our car already, so they don’t have to do it again. My line-up coming back from Suzhou, should be shorter now…

Expo@Night

Driving back home over LuPu bridge we saw all the lights of the Expo2010. We stopped at the big entrance (Pudong South Road / Shang Nan Road) and found out we were not the only ones enjoying it… Still 27 nights to go before the grand opening on May 1st.

Expo Police

Cab drivers are not the only ones to get new cars for the World Expo. Today the Shanghai Police got 22 of their new cars handed over to them: BMW 5-series! I am not sure if getting arrested and being brought to the Police station during the Expo will be a punishment…

Expo cabs in the wild

Only a few days it took us to spot the new cabs. We saw a Hybrid Buick on Sunday and overtook a Touran on the way to work on Monday.

Expo cabs

With the Expo starting really soon, the special Expo-cabs are coming on the road. Both big car makers from Shanghai are providing them: Shanghai-GM chose to deliver their 2009 Buick Lacrosse 2.4L ECO-Hybrid, while Volkswagen is supplying Tourans specially made in a taxi version. Let’s see how soon we will see them on the road. :)
