US Videos: Nice views of California, Los Angeles and Las Vegas
200 miles along the Californian coast: Terrific!! We have no photos yet, because there are just too many…. No time to check which ones are the best. Vien was very busy switching between photo and video camera, while I had a great time with our V6 rental-Passat on the curvy road along the hills of the costline. In Monterrey now, heading up to the SF-bay area tomorrow, passing Santa Cruz and Stanford Uni.
Changing places today: Out of the desert, up to the Pacific coastline. But not without checking the key highlights of LA/Hollywood: Sign, Boulevard and Beverly Hills. Then up to the Pacific at Santa Monica! Life is really hard….
At the border of the North American and Pacific tectionic plates is the Red Rock Canyon in the middle of the desert. We took a 1 hr trail over the rocks (literally!) climbing to the top of the canyon to view Las Vegas. Great! The vast size of the rocks on one side, and emptiness of the desert on the other side is a large contrast!! Or maybe city people from a ‘flat’ place are just easy to be impressed by nature?
Vegas has way too many Hotel-Casino resorts to check in one week. So can you check 5 in one day? We did it! Too bad that the lions at not at the MGM anymore and that the tiger & dolphins show at the Mirage closes at 17h30, but in return there where tulips in the indoor garden at the Bellagio!
The new most-used App on Vien’s iPhone: “Draw Something“. It’s on-line pictionary which you can play with friends or with strangers. Sometimes there is quite some guessing involved!
Who said you can’t play modern songs on very traditional instruments and make them sound just as good (or better) as the original? AWESOME!!
After checking what we really want of a tablet, listing the pros and cons, the Ipad idea was given up. We bought a 10″ Asus Eee PC (X101CH) today! Quad core Intel Atom, 320GB HDD, 2G memory, HDMI, Win7 and 8 hours battery-life in black. It runs the full MSOffice and all graphics editing SW we need, bye-bye to our company laptops when we go on trip!
How small is small? The picture shows my 4yr old Vaio compared to the new lappie.
Great idea, cutting cake would be a piece of cake!!
I was asked to buy some small tiger gifts to remember that Ron’s team members succeed in the Tiger project. Omnipotent Taobao.com!
Super high resolution photo of National Congress, you can even see every one’s face though this link
